Kieran McKenna open to Manchester United return, Brighton & Hove Albion confident of winning race

Brighton & Hove Albion are confident of landing 38-year-old Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, who is open to joining Manchester United.

According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Kieran McKenna is the subject of interest from Manchester United. Chelsea are also keen on securing the services of the Ipswich Town manager. However, the 38-year-old has boosted Manchester United’s prospects as he is open to returning to Old Trafford if Erik ten Hag leaves the club.

Meanwhile, a report by The Times has claimed that the Northern Irish manager is the subject of interest from Brighton & Hove Albion. And the Seagulls are confident that they can beat Chelsea to his signature in the coming weeks.

Kieran McKenna has become one of the most highly sought-after managers in the market since joining Ipswich Town. A former youth coach at Tottenham and Manchester United, he rose in prominence while being the assistant to Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, successive promotions and a return to the Premier League after over two decades have meant his stock has skyrocketed, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Brighton & Hove Albion keen.

Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week, with the Argentine tactician departing from Stamford Bridge due to differences over transfer strategy. So, the Blues are scouring the market for a new manager, identifying several options to replace Pochettino. McKenna is among the leading candidates to become the new Chelsea manager.

As for Manchester United, they know about Kieran McKenna and his potential as a coach and a manager. So, amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils have registered their interest in the 38-year-old. And the Ipswich Town manager has boosted Manchester United’s prospects, as he is open to taking over as the new manager.

However, Brighton & Hove Albion are hopeful of beating the competition to McKenna’s signature. The Seagulls have parted ways with Roberto De Zerbi due to his differences with Tony Bloom behind the scenes. So, the Ipswich Town manager has emerged as one of the candidates to replace De Zerbi at the Amex Stadium.

While Brighton & Hove Albion are confident of winning the race to secure Kieran McKenna’s services, the Northern Irishman’s openness to return to Manchester United should make them the front-runners for his signature.
