Chelsea players want Mauricio Pochettino to continue at the London club despite reports of a potential sacking.
According to a report from TEAMTalk, Mauricio Pochettino’s future at Chelsea has been the talking point for a while now following the club’s disappointing performances in the ongoing season. While the club are yet to make a decision regarding his future, Chelsea players would be disappointed to see him get sacked.
The Blues appointed Pochettino as their manager last summer in hopes of reviving themselves. Despite having spent millions on player transfers, they were not getting the desired result, as a result, they brought in the former Tottenham manager.
Mauricio Pochettino’s uncertain future
Unfortunately, things haven’t been that great for the Argentine manager at the London club. They have had a disappointing campaign after not reaching the expected levels in the first half. Injuries have caused them quite a few problems. While the situation has improved a touch in recent weeks, there are still a lot of question marks about the future of Pochettino.
The Blues are all set to have a meeting on Monday between the senior figures at the club and the Argentine manager to discuss their future plans. While they haven’t given any confirmation about the 52-year-old being at the club next season, there is confidence in the manager’s camp that he will keep his job.
They are optimistic following a decent spell in the second half of the season which has given them an opportunity to make it to the Europa League. Qualifying for UEL will help them financially but if they do miss out on a spot, then the pressure will increase on the Argentine manager.
Chelsea’s co-owner Behdad Eghbali is the man who will have the final say on the former Tottenham Hotspur manager’s future. It will be up to him to make the final call if people at the club do look to make another major change.
Chelsea players want Pochettino to continue at the club
While people at the club are still considering the future of their manager, the players seem to have enjoyed working under his guidance. They want to continue with Pochettino and would be disappointed if the club ends up sacking him after the end of the season.
The belief amongst the young players in the squad is that the Argentine has had a positive impact on them. He is improving the team and the injuries have been one of the major reasons for the team’s poor first half. The players are keen to have him around. But, if the board do end up sacking him, there will be no shortage of interest in him.
