Manchester United and West Ham United have reportedly identified 41-year-old Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic as their latest target.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Edin Terzic might have his next managerial assignment in the Premier League. Manchester United and West Ham United are scouring the market for a new manager, with the 41-year-old Borussia Dortmund boss emerging as a target for both English clubs.
Edin Terzic has enjoyed an intriguing managerial career thus far. A native of Menden, he was an attacker during his days as a footballer but flew under the radar after representing several lesser-known clubs. He entered the coaching sphere in 2010 and has been associated with Borussia Dortmund for much of his time in management.
Terzic has represented Borussia Dortmund as the assistant manager, interim boss and the head coach in the last half a dozen years. The 41-year-old has also served the Bundesliga club’s under-16, under-17, and under-19 sides in addition to the reserve team. Meanwhile, his other jobs have come as an assistant to the managers at Besiktas and West Ham United.
The German-Croatian tactician’s current job is his first as the head coach, having taken charge of Borussia Dortmund in 2022 after the departure of Marco Rose. While the Black and Yellows have faltered in the Bundesliga and other competitions, Terzic’s stock is high. And he might return to the Premier League soon, with Manchester United and West Ham United vying for his signature.
Manchester United’s interest in Edin Terzic comes in the wake of uncertainties surrounding the future of Erik ten Hag. Several managers, including Ruben Amorim, have thus emerged on the Red Devils’ radar to replace the Dutchman. However, the Borussia Dortmund head coach is also a viable target due to his playing style.
As for West Ham United, David Moyes is on thin ice at the London Stadium after sub-par showings by his team in 2024. Managers like Julen Lopetegui, Ruben Amorim, and Gary O’Neil have emerged on the East London club’s radar. However, Terzic is also an option worth considering for West Ham.
It is unclear if Borussia Dortmund will part ways with Terzic after the 2023/24 season ends. However, the opportunity to manage a Premier League club might be appealing. It will be interesting to see if the 41-year-old returns to West Ham as the head coach or joins Manchester United as Erik ten Hag’s replacement.
