Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is reportedly “under consideration” to replace David Moyes at West Ham United.

According to TEAMtalk, highly-rated Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is a contender to replace David Moyes as West Ham manager.

The Hammers’ current boss, David Moyes, is under increasing pressure after a miserable few weeks in East London.

West Ham are eighth in the Premier League after their heavy loss to Crystal Palace, but they are likely to drop a couple of places before the season ends as they have played more games than most of the teams around them.

They have also been dumped out of the Europa League by Bayer Leverkusen at the quarter-final stage, throwing into doubt whether or not the club will qualify for any form of European football next season.

Moyes’ future has been a continuous topic of discussion throughout the current campaign, with some supporters having grown tired of the Scot’s pragmatic style of play.

The 60-year-old’s second spell as West Ham boss got started in 2019. They have become regulars in Europe, and they won the Europa Conference League at the end of last season.

After back-to-back top-seven finishes in the Premier League, West Ham dropped to 14th last season as they focused on their run in the Europa Conference League.

West Ham plotting Kieran McKenna move

With Moyes’ current contract due to expire at the end of this season, the Hammers’ board feels this summer would be the right time to appoint a new manager.

A range of top coaches from across Europe have been linked with the role. Indeed, technical director Tim Steidten is understood to be a keen admirer of Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, among others, while the likes of Graham Potter and Julen Lopetegui remain readily available in free agency.

Northern Ireland manager Kieran McKenna is one of several names being linked with the post. McKenna, who is in his first job as a first-team manager after his previous spells as coach at Manchester United, is currently trying to steer Ipswich to successive promotions, this time to the Premier League.

The Tractor Boys sit inside the automatic promotion spots in the Championship.

They emerged from League One last season to book their place in the second tier, but now their eyes are set on the top flight in what would be another remarkable achievement for McKenna.

But even if Ipswich do not earn back-to-back promotions under McKenna, their ambitious young boss may still go up amid Premier League managerial post links.

It is claimed that there is a £4 million release clause in the 37-year-old’s contract with Ipswich, which has also apparently caught the attention of West Ham.
