Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to replace Xavi Hernandez at the end of the season.

Xavi Hernandez has already confirmed that he will leave Barcelona in the summer, and a report from HITC has claimed that the Blaugrana want Unai Emery to replace him. However, Aston Villa are quite optimistic of holding on to the Spanish manager.

Emery has done an exceptional job since taking over at the West Midlands club, and they are currently fourth in the Premier League table. They will be hoping to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the next season, and the Spanish manager is unlikely to abandon the project at Aston Villa anytime soon.

He will look to build them into a formidable side in the coming seasons and help them win trophies and compete in Europe regularly. Emery has put together an exciting squad at Aston Villa, and he will look to improve them further.

Although the opportunity to manage Barcelona can be quite tempting for any manager, he has an exciting project at Aston Villa, and leaving them might not be an option for him right now. Meanwhile, the Villans are confident of keeping hold of him.

Barcelona need a quality manager

Barcelona have been linked with a number of other managers, and it will be interesting to see who they bring in to replace their former midfielder. It has been a disappointing season for Barcelona by their standards, and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly next season.

They are currently eight points adrift of bitter rivals Real Madrid, who are leading the standings. Barcelona are likely to end up as the runners-up in La Liga, and a club of their stature will be expected to do better next season.

It will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana decide to test Emery’s resolve with a lucrative offer in the summer. The Spanish manager has managed clubs like Almeria, Valencia, Sevilla and Villarreal in the past, and the opportunity to return to his homeland could be attractive for him if a suitable offer is presented.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks. Aston Villa fans will certainly hope that the former Arsenal manager can stay at the club and guide them to trophies in the near future.
