Raheem Sterling will return to the Chelsea starting lineup against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

Chelsea will look to return to winning ways when they welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on Thursday night. And Mauricio Pochettino has greeted a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Robert Sanchez, Trevoh Chalobah, and Malo Gusto have trained this week and should be in the matchday squad to take on Manchester United. However, Ben Chilwell has yet to regain fitness after encountering a setback on his recovery trail.

Chilwell accompanies Reece James (hamstring), Wesley Fofana (knee), Levi Colwill (ankle), Romeo Lavia (thigh), Christopher Nkunku (thigh), and Lesley Ugochukwu on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Pochettino spoke about Chalobah, Gusto, and Chilwell during his pre-match press conference.

The Chelsea manager said, “Trevoh and Malo were training with us and I think they will be ready to be involved with us in the squad. We haven’t seen Chilly since Friday. That is the last time we saw him because the doctor and the medical staff removed from his knee a lot of fluid.”

“That was the situation after he arrived from the national team and then on Saturday he got ill and wasn’t here on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today. He is at home trying to recover. Robert is training, we will see if he can be on the squad list or not.”

With Sanchez’s availability in doubt, Djordje Petrovic will start between the sticks, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Manchester United. The backline should feature Gusto, Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, and Marc Cucurella.

As for the midfield unit, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will retain their partnership in the double pivot in the middle of the park. Conor Gallagher will reprise his usual no. 10 role, with Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer being the two wide attackers. Finally, Nicolas Jackson should lead the line for Chelsea against Manchester United.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Silva, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Sterling; Jackson
