Liverpool are unlikely to appoint Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi as their new manager ahead of next season.

According to a report by talkSPORT, Liverpool are on the lookout for a new manager, and they have been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi. But, they are unlikely to push for his signatures. The Reds are all set to cool their interest in the Italian and have other targets that they will prioritise.

The search for Klopp’s successor

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to part ways with Liverpool came as a huge surprise to many. The German manager has enjoyed a nine-year-long successful stint at Anfield. He helped them end their 30-year-long wait for the Premier League title and even guided them to Champions League glory.

The Reds are once again in the hunt for the league title as Klopp looks to leave on a high. Liverpool have had a lot of success under Klopp, and as a result, they want to ensure they bring in a top-quality manager who can help them maintain similar levels.

The Merseyside club were pushing hard for the services of Xabi Alonso, and he was a priority target for them. But, with the former Liverpool midfielder committing his future to Bayer Leverkusen, they will now have to look elsewhere.

Liverpool are not pushing for De Zerbi

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi has been linked with the job at Anfield for a while now. The Italian tactician has refused to commit his future to the Seagulls which has fuelled speculations. He has done wonders at Brighton.

De Zerbi has transformed the club, and they have been playing an attractive and attacking brand of football under the 44-year-old. Despite proving himself in the English top flight over the past few seasons, he is not one of the standout options to take over from Klopp.

The Reds have a shortlist of targets, and he might be a part of it. But, De Zerbi is not one of their priorities and as per the report, they are unlikely to appoint him ahead of next season. The Liverpool hierarchy do not want to rush the decision.

They want to ensure they get the best possible successor. The English club are depending on data to help them get the right man for the job. At this stage, Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim and Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi are two managers who are quite high on their wishlist.
