Chelsea have had a disappointing 2023/24 season thus far, and Mauricio Pochettino is under a lot of pressure.

According to a report from HITC, some of the Chelsea players have urged the club hierarchy to get rid of Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It seems that they want Pochettino sacked in the summer, and it will be interesting to see if the club hierarchy are willing to give in to their demands. The Argentine tactician has previously shown his quality in the Premier League with clubs like Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the move to Chelsea has not worked out for him. The Blues have been quite mediocre this season, and they could finish in the mid-table positions. Pochettino was backed heavily during the summer transfer window, and he was expected to guide Chelsea back into the Champions League.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can finish the season strongly. There is no doubt that they have a quality squad at their disposal, but the Argentine manager has not managed to get the best out of his players.

Pochettino has underperformed at Chelsea

A club of Chelsea’s stature should be challenging for major trophies and competing in the UEFA Champions League. They finished in the mid-table positions last season as well. The owners will be thoroughly disappointed with the situation at the club despite spending millions of pounds on new players.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks. Pochettino is clearly on the brink, and he will need to mastermind a major turnaround in the remaining weeks of the season in order to hold on to his job.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks, including Roberto De Zerbi, and it remains to be seen who they end up with if they decide to part ways with the South American manager.

Meanwhile, Pochettino is not the only culprit behind Chelsea’s mediocre campaign, and some of the players will have to shoulder the blame for the disappointing performances this season as well. It seems that a major exodus could be on the cards at Chelsea in the summer.
