Newcastle United owners have decided to stick with Eddie Howe as their manager going forward despite their recent struggles.

According to a report by Football Insider, Newcastle United owners have made a decision regarding the future of Eddie Howe. While the Magpies have struggled in the ongoing season, the Public Investment Fund are ready to back the former Bournemouth manager.

Howe took charge of the Magpies in November 2021, he has taken them from the relegation battle to Champions League football in no time. While the money invested by the PIF did help his cause, the English manager has lived up to the expectations of the owners.

In his first full season in charge, he helped them finish inside the top four and qualify for the Champions League. But, the second full season hasn’t gone as planned. They went out of the UCL in the group stage by finishing bottom and are currently 10th in the league having dropped points on multiple occasions over the last few weeks.

Newcastle’s stance on Howe’s future

Finishing inside the top four from here on doesn’t look realistic. But, despite that the PIF are in no mood to sack Howe. They have decided to back him for the remainder of the ongoing season and beyond it as well. The board feels he has what it takes to help them fulfil their long-term ambitions of becoming a regular feature in Europe and fighting for the Premier League title.

The club’s ownership is quite happy with the progress the club has made so far under Howe and not finishing in the top four this term will not bother them. They feel injuries to key players and lack of depth have troubled them this time out. And, despite Howe facing a lot of criticism from fans and pundits, they are not considering the idea of sacking him any time soon.

The club were quite conservative during the winter transfer window as they looked to keep their spending in check. But, they are expected to once again back Howe in the summer transfer window in the best possible way to ensure they can bounce back next season.
