According to A Bola via Sport Witness, Liverpool are reportedly looking closely at Ruben Amorim as they are ‘very impressed’ with the Portuguese manager. Jurgen Klopp replacement

Liverpool impressed with Ruben Amorim.
Based on all the reports that have emerged since Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to leave in the summer, Liverpool has many names on their list. The club are showing little desperation to find the ideal replacement for the German, although that call would have to be made at some point.

With a fair bit of the season remaining still, Liverpool are using this time to evaluate some of their preferred candidates, which includes Ruben Amorim. The 39-year-old has reportedly impressed the Merseysiders as they might consider him a top name on their shortlist.

Amorim has had a productive time since taking over at Sporting CP, and this season, he has taken them on a title quest in Portugal. Currently, they are two points behind Benfica with a game in hand and should retake the lead should they win. His application on the pitch, his systems and the developmental aspects with young players have caught the eye of many clubs, including Barcelona.

The 39-year-old has so far denied any talk with Liverpool, although things could start accelerating in the coming period. The Reds certainly have him on their radar, and as we enter the final phase of the current season, the ball could get rolling, and things could get more apparent on their preferred targets.

Liverpool’s other targets to replace Klopp

For a long, Xabi Alonso has been their priority target, as per multiple reports, although the German has reservations about a move as things stand. The Spaniard’s decision could still change as he’s understandably focused on winning the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen rather than paying any attention towards speculation and links with a move away.

Julian Nagelsmann and Amorim are considered contingent options for Liverpool should they fail in the Alonso pursuit. Hence, the 39-year-old Portuguese manager may have a huge chance to take over at Liverpool, who may have to shell out at least €20 million to release him from Sporting CP.

For me Alonso should take Pop’s shoes as he is a genuine candidate.Having said that I wish to air my opinion regarding Lisbon manager, he may be doing a fantastic in Portugal but the League of Portugal is not as strong as that of Germany let alone England. Before any start of UCL nobody has ever bet in favour of Portugal to win the tournament let alone the reaching the semi final. It last happened during Mourino with Porto more than a decade ago.
