Manchester United are reportedly interested in appointing 36-year-old German manager Julian Nagelsmann as Erik ten Hag’s replacement.

Julian Nagelsmann has reportedly been linked with Liverpool as well as he will likely leave the German national team job after UEFA Euro 2024. And Manchester United view the 36-year-old as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag, as per Fichajes.

The Dutch manager has failed to get the best out of his team this season, and the Red Devils have been quite mediocre. It will not be a surprise if Manchester United decide to change managers at the end of the season. Nagelsmann has been identified as a potential alternative.

The 36-year-old is highly rated around Europe and despite his struggles at Bayern Munich, and he is widely regarded as one of the best young managers around. The German could be tempted to manage in the Premier League, and the opportunity to join Manchester United can be quite hard to turn down.

Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they could provide the German with the opportunity to compete for major trophies once again. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag will be hoping to turn things around and prove his quality at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen whether the Dutchman can grind out results on a consistent basis and convince the club hierarchy to hold on to him beyond the season.

Erik ten hag has failed to deliver

Manchester United backed him heavily during the summer transfer window with big-money signings. The Dutchman has failed to get the best out of his own signings, and Manchester United have struggled as a result of that. In addition, the former Ajax manager as had fallouts with some players as well.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks. Manchester United must look to make their move quickly if they are intent on making a change. They are already struggling for Champions League qualification, and missing out on a top four finish would be a devastating blow for them.

Meanwhile, Liverpool need to appoint a quality manager at the end of the season as well. Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that this is his final season with the Premier League club, and replacing the German will be a major challenge for the Premier League club. So, they might pursue Nagelsmann, competing with Manchester United for his signature.
