Erik ten Hag is hopeful that Luke Shaw will regain his fitness to represent Manchester United against Luton Town on Sunday.

Manchester United will be eager to continue their winning run when they lock horns with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sunday evening. And Erik ten Hag has greeted a positive update on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Luke Shaw, who played only one half against Aston Villa last weekend due to a precautionary substitution, is in contention to take on Luton Town. And Erik ten Hag appeared hopeful in his pre-match press conference while answering questions on the Englishman’s availability.

The Manchester United boss said, “Yes, so he is doubtful for the weekend but we are positive he can make it. So, he fell out [of the game], it was a precaution [to substitute him] and I think it was the right decision, especially when you, afterwards, win the game. But we are working to Sunday.”

While Shaw might return, Lisandro Martinez (knee), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (knock), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Mason Mount (calf), and Anthony Martial (groin) remain on the sidelines. And ten Hag spoke about Wan-Bissaka, Malacia, and Mount during his presser.

The Manchester United manager continued, “First, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will take some weeks because he picked up another injury in the training last week. Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia will take some more weeks.”

With Wan-Bissaka still unavailable, Diogo Dalot will continue as the right-back. Shaw will retain his spot on the left flank if he shrugs off his knock. Otherwise, Victor Lindelof will start as the left-back, with Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire forming the central defensive partnership. Andre Onana will take his usual spot between the sticks.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo in the double pivot. Bruno Fernandes will reprise his usual advanced midfield role as the no. 10, looking to pull the strings higher up the pitch. Finally, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho will continue as the wide attackers, with Rasmus Hojlund leading the line for the away side against Luton Town.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
