Why is Dan Ashworth leaving Newcastle United for Manchester United? Reason revealed

Dan Ashworth is parting ways with Newcastle United to join Manchester United as their new football director.

According to a report by Football Insider, Newcastle United’s sporting director Dan Ashworth is all set to take charge at Manchester United in the near future. The 52-year-old transfer expert is not happy at the Tyneside club and that is a major reason for his departure despite the promising start to a new project.

Ashworth did a lot of good work at Brighton as their technical director. His work attracted a lot of attention. While there was a lot of interest in his services, the Magpies managed to bring him to their club to lead them into the new era.

The 52-year-old has done a great job so far, his signings have helped them return to the Champions League. The ongoing season might not have gone according to plan but Ashworth’s signing could prove pivotal in the long run.

Reason for Ashworth’s departure

However, it looks like the former technical director of Brighton is all set to part ways with Newcastle United. He doesn’t like how things work at the club. The transfer guru feels there are way too many opinions involved in recruitment at St James’ Park.

He believes the Magpies manager Eddie Howe and other staff have way too much say on the player they sign something he didn’t sign up for when he took the job. Reports suggest Ashworth doesn’t have the much-needed freedom and he doesn’t get to make the transfers he wants.

With the 52-year-old unhappy, Manchester United seem to have pounced on the opportunity. The Red Devils have spent millions on transfers but they haven’t succeeded on the pitch, which suggests their performance in the market has been below par.

As a result, they are keen on changing things up by signing someone who understands how to help rebuild the club. Ashworth is the man for the Red Devils and United’s swoop comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to buy a 25% stake in the club has been approved.

With new ownership taking control, the 52-year-old feels he has a good chance of taking the Red Devils forward as his results are unlikely to be worse than the ongoing situation at the Manchester-based club.
