Manchester United are keen on signing the Brighton head of recruitment Sam Jewell.

A report from TEAMtalk claims that Chelsea are keen on the 34-year-old as well and Manchester United will have to compete with the Blues for his services.

Manchester United are close to appointing Dan Ashworth as their sporting director and the Newcastle man has indicated that he would like to recruit Jewell from Brighton as the club’s head of transfer negotiations. Ashworth worked with the 34-year-old during their time together at Brighton.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking to improve their recruitment department as well. They have already appointed Paul Winstanley from Brighton in 2022 and they are now ready to poach Jewell out of the club as well.

The 34-year-old has done an exceptional job at Brighton handling transfer negotiations and getting the best value for money out of deals. Manchester United could certainly use his expertise in the coming years.

The Red Devils have spent more than any other English club in recent seasons but they have not been able to improve their squad significantly. They have failed to compete for major trophies and most of their big money signings have proven to be major flops.

Manchester united need to extract more value from their investment and bringing in the right people would be a step in the right direction. Ashworth has done an impressive job at Newcastle United as well and he could prove to be a quality acquisition as well. Manchester United are clearly looking for an overhaul of their recruitment department and the likes of Ashworth and Jewell could transform them.

Jewell could be tempted by Manchester United, Chelsea

The opportunity to join clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea can be tempting for anyone. It would be a major step up in his career and the 34-year-old Brighton man is likely to be excited about the possibility of working for the biggest clubs in the country.

In addition to that, Manchester United and Chelsea have substantial resources and they can sign the best players in the world. Jewell will look to build a legacy with their resources in the coming seasons.
