Carlo Ancelotti turned down a double-your-money contract offer from Manchester United before committing his future to Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Carlo Ancelotti was the subject of interest from Manchester United before signing a new contract with Real Madrid. The Red Devils were ready to double his salary from €7 million to €14 million. But he snubbed the deal to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu, renewing his terms until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Carlo Ancelotti: The Story So Far

Carlo Ancelotti has been among the best managers in the world for nearly three decades. A midfielder during his playing days, the 64-year-old entered the managerial world in 1992. But his first job at the club level came in 1995 with Reggiana before first tasting success during his stint with Juventus.

Ancelotti’s stock skyrocketed after he joined AC Milan in 2001, winning eight trophies during his spell. Since then, the Italian tactician has had a winning habit, lifting titles with almost every club he has managed. The latest stint has come with Real Madrid, where he has won six trophies in two and a half years.

Los Blancos completed the UEFA Champions League and La Liga double in his first season back at Real Madrid. The Merengues have won every trophy during Ancelotti’s second spell at the Santiago Bernabeu. But his future had been uncertain for several months, with reports linking him with the job in the Brazilian national team.

Ancelotti Had His Admirers

Real Madrid subsequently considered several managers, including Roberto De Zerbi, with the top job to replace Ancelotti. But the move to Brazil has not materialised, with Ancelotti signing a new contract with Real Madrid until the end of the 2025/26 season. The development has not only been a blow for Brazil but also Manchester United.

Reports in October suggested that Manchester United had approached Carlo Ancelotti over the possibility of replacing Erik ten Hag. Defensa Central has shed light on the rumour, claiming the Red Devils were ready to double his salary from €7 million to €14 million.

But Ancelotti snubbed Manchester United to commit his future to Real Madrid. As for the Red Devils, they have several managers on their wishlist. If things continue to go from bad to worse under the Dutchman, one of them might arrive at Old Trafford.
