42-year-old transfer expert Paul Mitchell is interested in taking charge as the new Manchester United sporting director.

According to Ben Jacobs via GIVEMESPORT, Paul Mitchell is leading the race to be the new Manchester United sporting director. The 42-year-old is looking for a new experience after parting ways with Monaco earlier this year. And, he seems to be keen on taking the Red Devils’ job.

The Glazers who bought majority stakes in the Manchester-based club 18 years back are now looking to sell the club. The club has been on sale since last year. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe were both keen on buying the club.

Sheikh Jassim wanted to buy 100% of the club and even submitted multiple offers. But, the Glazers rejected his offer as they were looking for a better package. The Qatari businessman has withdrawn from the race but Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still in the mix.

According to multiple reports, he is all set to secure a 25% stake in the club. Ratcliffe might become a minority owner of the club but he will have a significant say in the club’s sporting matters. He plans on buying the entire club over a period of time and wants to include clauses in the contract to ensure things go according to his plans.

With the Red Devils preparing to enter into a new era, Ratcliffe has already started to plan about the changes that he will make. The British billionaire wants to appoint a new sporting director. He wants to ensure someone experienced is in charge of player transfers and other important sporting-related work.

As a result, they have started looking for options. According to the report Ratcliffe and his people really like the idea of bringing Paul Mitchell to the club. The 42-year-old transfer expert has worked at some big clubs over the years. While his roles might have been different, he has played a big part at Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig among other clubs.

Mitchell has a lot of experience and he has done some great work in the past. And, Ratcliffe feels he could play a big part in bringing some exciting players to Old Trafford. While the Red Devils are also holding talks regarding a few other options, Mitchell is leading the race at this stage and he is very interested in taking charge at United. The 42-year-old is interested in the role and would love to work for one of the biggest clubs in world football.
