Xavi will soon sign a new contract with Barcelona, committing his future to the club until 2025, with the Blaugrana doubling his salary.

According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Barcelona should soon tie Xavi Hernandez to a new contract. The Blaugrana will hand a double-your-money deal running until June 30, 2025, to the 43-year-old, who has entered the final year of his current agreement.

Xavi Hernandez has turned around Barcelona’s fortunes since replacing Ronald Koeman nearly two years ago. An all-time great for Barcelona from his days as a professional footballer, the former Spanish international won every trophy with the Blaugrana. In addition, he lifted the World Cup and the European Championships with the Spanish national side.

The 43-year-old ended his time as a professional footballer in Qatar, spending the last four years of his career with Al-Sadd. And after calling time on his playing days, he immediately stepped into the managerial world. Al-Sadd handed him the role of the first-team boss in July 2019, and he grew in stature in the following two years.

Xavi guided Al-Sadd to the Qatar Stars League in the 2020/21 season while winning the Qatar Cup in 2020 and 2021. The club also won four other trophies during Xavi’s time at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club. But his time at Al-Sadd ended in November 2021 as he returned to Barcelona, this time as a manager.

The Catalan giants were in the market for a new head coach after parting ways with Ronald Koeman early into the 2021/22 season. And Barcelona turned to Xavi to embark on a new era in the club’s illustrious history. The move has been a resounding success, as he guided Barcelona to the league title last term.

Xavi’s first season saw him guide Barcelona to stability, clinching a second-placed finish. And while the Catalan giants have been underwhelming in Europe, the former Spanish international has done enough to compel the club to hand him an improved contract. And he will soon sign a new deal running until June 30, 2025.

The 43-year-old has entered the final year of his contract. So, it was imperative for Barcelona to hand him a new deal. And the revised agreement will double Xavi’s salary, which he had been eager to recoup after guiding Barcelona to the league title. Meanwhile, the Blaugrana wanted to secure his future until 2026 before agreeing to a one-year renewal.
