Napoli Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is a reported target for Manchester United, with the club eyeing backroom changes in the summer.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Manchester United are keen on Cristiano Giuntoli to become their sporting director. The Red Devils want to provide Erik ten Hag support in the transfer market and feel the Napoli man could work out well ahead of the next window.

Manchester United are making changes in the background and want to build on the impressive season. They have already won silverware by lifting the Carabao Cup earlier this year and could potentially win another as they face Manchester City in the FA Cup Final.

Irrespective of what happens in that Wembley final, Manchester United will want to help Erik ten Hag in the next phase of his squad building. They might start by appointing a new sporting director to aid the manager with the right transfer targets.

For a long time, Manchester United have received criticism for their dealings in the transfer market. Complaints have ranged from either the club overspending on targets with a low value or not signing the right profile fit for their system.

Those issues have created a vacuum in the side, which has not been able to compete with the likes of Manchester City or Liverpool over the years. Manchester United want to change that as they target Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli ahead of the summer.

The Napoli man has proved an instrumental figure behind the scenes for the Seria A champions-elect. After making big decisions on important players to ship them out, Giuntoli has proved doubters wrong by building a team that has already won the championship.

Giuntoli was also instrumental in making important transfer decisions by signing players like Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, among others. The 51-year-old transfer guru’s decisions have proved brilliant in Napoli’s quest to lift the Scudetto after 33 years.

Hence, Manchester United will see the wisdom in appointing the 51-year-old transfer guru with an impeccable record on his CV. Giuntoli also has interest from Juventus and seems open to leaving Naples for a bigger challenge.

However, Manchester United could offer him a better financial package and possibly a massive budget to work around. The Red Devils may also feel the 51-year-old transfer guru could help them with signings like Victor Osimhen, who remains a big target.

They might also ponder a big-money move for Kvaratskhelia, but signing Napoli’s star duo might seem impossible in one window. Either way, Manchester United want Giuntoli in the summer to improve their reputation in the market and bring a clear direction with transfer targets.
