Christian Eriksen and Jadon Sancho will return to the Manchester United starting lineup against West Ham United on Sunday.
Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways when they lock horns with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday evening. And Erik ten Hag does not have any new issues hampering his preparations ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Tom Heaton, Phil Jones, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Donny van de Beek, and Scott McTominay remain on the sidelines. But Alejandro Garnacho might be fit enough to make the matchday squad on Sunday.
During his pre-match press conference, which happened immediately after the game against Brighton & Hove Albion, Erik ten Hag discussed the possibility of Garnacho returning. But the Dutchman did not guarantee the teenager’s participation versus West Ham.
When asked about team news for the West Ham game, ten Hag said, “No, I think it will be the same squad. Maybe one player [to add]: Garnacho. I have to see. Maybe he can be involved but we will have to see how the progress can go.”
Garnacho might make the matchday squad, but he will not be fit enough to start. Meanwhile, Anthony Martial will drop to the bench, with Jadon Sancho replacing him. That means Marcus Rashford will start as the central striker, with Sancho and Antony being the two wide attackers. So Martial, Facundo Pellistri, and possibly Garnacho will be on the bench.
As for the midfield unit, Christian Eriksen will return after Manchester United struggled to control the proceedings. Fred will drop to the bench, where he will accompany Marcel Sabitzer. Casemiro will line up alongside Eriksen in the double pivot, while Bruno Fernandes will be the most advanced midfielder for Manchester United.
Meanwhile, the defensive unit should remain unchanged, with Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof forming the central defensive partnership. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot will retain their full-back spots, with Dalot featuring on the left flank. Finally, David de Gea is the automatic pick between the sticks.
