A report from Daily Telegraph claims that Tottenham are seeking talks with former Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique. Apparently, Chelsea have already interviewed the 52-year-old manager. But they will face competition from the North London side.
Luis Enrique is currently without a job after being relieved of his duties as the manager of the Spanish national team. Spain had a disappointing World Cup campaign under his tutelage, and the 52-year-old will be hoping to bounce back strongly.
The opportunity to take over a Premier League club could be an exciting option for him. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince Enrique to take over and snub the approach from Chelsea. The Blues certainly have more resources, and they have a far more competitive team at their disposal.
The new owners have spent significant sums of money over the last couple of transfer windows, and Chelsea have put together a formidable squad. With a couple of intelligent additions in the summer, there is no reason why Chelsea cannot compete for the major trophies next season. The opportunity to manage them could be a more attractive option for Enrique.
On the other hand, Tottenham are going through a transitional phase, and they could lose some important players. Enrique will need to oversee a rebuild at Tottenham, and the North London club simply do not have the resources to compete with clubs like Chelsea.
