Chelsea interested in Xabi Alonso

Chelsea are linked with 41-year-old Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso as they look for someone to replace Graham Potter.

Xabi Alonso has done an impressive job at Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen so far. And his performance has caught the attention of west London club Chelsea. A report from The Guardian claims that the Blues could look to appoint the 41-year-old as their new manager.

Chelsea have also been linked with the likes of Luis Enrique and Antonio Conte. It will be interesting to see who arrives at Stamford Bridge to replace Graham Potter permanently at the end of the season.

The Blues appointed Bruno Saltor as the interim coach, and they are set to bring in former manager Frank Lampard to take over as the caretaker boss. Lampard will be looking to steady the ship and lift the morale of the players.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can finish the season strongly. The Blues have a talented squad at their disposal, and they have spent significant sums of money in order to improve the pool of talent at the club.

Xabi Alonso is a talented young manager with a big future ahead of him, and he could prove to be an exciting addition to Chelsea. The rookie Spanish manager comes across as a tactically-efficient manager and could get the best out of the Chelsea squad.

Bayer Leverkusen have improved immensely under his management, and Chelsea will feel that the Spaniard could help them challenge for major trophies in the coming seasons. Alonso has been linked with other high-profile jobs in recent months as well and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

The opportunity to manage a club like Chelsea will be an attractive option for the former Liverpool midfielder. The Blues have significant resources, and they are capable of signing elite talents on a consistent basis. Alonso will be hoping to put together a formidable squad at Stamford Bridge capable of challenging for all major trophies if the move goes through.

However, Chelsea will have to be patient with the Spaniard and let him implement his ideas. The Blues probably expected instant success from Graham Potter, and they cannot afford to do the same with Alonso. The 41-year-old Spanish rookie manager was given the time to implement his ideas at the German club and he excelled as a result of that.
