Tottenham Hotspur recently sacked Antonio Conte and want to bring in a top replacement, with Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann on their radar.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with managers like Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi in recent weeks. But a report from 90min claims that the two managers, both on Chelsea’s radar, are not interested in taking over at Spurs.

Nagelsmann was recently sacked by Bayern Munich and is thought to be on the radar of Premier League rivals Chelsea as well. Apparently, a move to Stamford Bridge would appeal more to the German manager. And it remains to be seen whether the Blues can get a deal for him across the line.

Tottenham are currently fighting for a top-four finish, and they have decided to rely on Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason until the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if the duo can guide Tottenham to European football next season. Missing out on Champions League football could be a devastating blow for Tottenham to attract top managers and top players.

On the other hand, Chelsea have had a disappointing campaign, and they are unlikely to secure Champions League qualification. However, they have spent more than any other English club since their takeover and have put together a formidable squad.

Managers like Nagelsmann and De Zerbi will feel that Chelsea have the squad to challenge for major trophies, and he will fancy his chances of getting the best out of them. Tottenham simply do not have the resources to compete for major trophies on a consistent basis.

Nagelsmann did a reasonably good job at Bayern Munich before he was sacked. And he will feel that he needs to join a club where he can win trophies instantly. A move to Tottenham would be a bit of a gamble for him, and it could damage his reputation if he fails to succeed at the north London club.

At Chelsea, there is a greater chance of competing for major trophies on a consistent basis because of the financial resources and the quality and depth of the squad. Meanwhile, the report claims that De Zerbi believes Tottenham is not the right project for him right now.

It will be interesting to see if the north London club can convince the Italian manager at the end of the season. Brighton are pushing for European football themselves, and De Zerbi might look to stay with the Seagulls if they manage to secure European qualification.
