Chelsea have made an offer for Jose Mourinho

Chelsea have reportedly made an offer to Jose Mourinho to become their new manager, with the Portuguese unhappy at Roma.

According to reports via Sport Witness, Chelsea have already made an offer for Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho to become their new boss. The future of Graham Potter remains under scrutiny, while the Portuguese could become an option to take over the reins for the third time in his career.

Chelsea have serious problems on their hands if their current form continues. They currently languish in the 10th spot on the Premier League table and have managed a solitary win in their last 10 games across all competitions.

Despite adding talents worth more than €300 million in January, Graham Potter has yet to be able to revive their fortunes, with his future coming under increasing scrutiny. While Chelsea have reportedly kept faith in the Englishman, the links to many other managers suggest their patience could run dry in the next phase.

After losing the Champions League clash to Borussia Dortmund and then suffering a morale-sapping defeat to bottom-placed Southampton in the league, Potter could get the sack if results continue at this stretch.

There are several contenders for the job, and some are high-profile names. Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti remains linked, while Chelsea are also looking at Zinedine Zidane to become their new manager. Whether those experienced tacticians agree to join the Blues remains the question as they add another big name to the list.

Jose Mourinho is no stranger to the Chelsea job, having managed the club twice in his career. He has won three Premier League titles with the Blues across two spells, and now fresh links insist they have made an offer for the Roma manager.

The information comes to the publication via former Italy defender Fulvio Collovati, who insists the club have already made an offer. He told RAI Sport, “I saw his face, strangely sad as if he had something inside as if he were brooding.”

“I’m not convinced, but in my opinion, he has received some offers, and one of these is that of Chelsea. And maybe some national teams. Maybe he’ll put his hands up to leave at the end of the season.”

Earlier reports suggested former Tottenham manager Mourinho would be happy to return and succeed Potter in the Chelsea hot seat. He might be unhappy with how things have panned out at Roma. The Portuguese was unsatisfied with the club’s efforts to build a squad sufficient to challenge for honours.

Yet, he has managed to take them up to third on the Serie A table, although there’s no chance of catching up with league leaders Napoli. For now, reports about different names for the Chelsea job could continue to feature in the media, but the Blues could give Potter some time before they decide to sack him if results do not improve.
