Chelsea are reportedly eyeing up a move for former Bayern Munich manager and current Germany head coach Hansi Flick.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Chelsea are exploring the option of replacing Graham Potter as their manager if the results do not improve soon. And Hansi Flick has emerged as a potential candidate to replace the current incumbent.

Flick did an impressive job during his time at Bayern Munich, and he could prove to be a quality replacement for Potter. The experienced coach also won the UEFA Champions League with the Bavarian giants.

The German national team head coach oversaw a disappointing World Cup campaign. And the option to return to club football could be a tempting proposition for him. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are prepared to submit a concrete proposal to the 57-year-old in the coming months.

It has been a disappointing season for Chelsea so far, and they are currently tenth in the league table. The Blues will be hoping to secure Champions League qualification after spending massive sums of money over the last two transfer windows. It remains to be seen whether Graham Potter can turn things around at Stamford Bridge and help his side finish in the top four.

Missing out on Champions League football will be a devastating blow for Chelsea. And it will certainly affect their chances of attracting top players during the summer transfer window. Chelsea will be expected to challenge for major trophies after the kind of transfers they have pulled off over the last few months. And Potter will be under pressure to deliver now.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager has been backed heavily by the new owners. And it is time for him to deliver a return on the investment. There is no doubt that the former Brighton manager has proven himself in the Premier League before. But the expectations at Chelsea are at a whole different level, and the Blues cannot afford to keep dropping points in the league.

Anything other than a top four finish would be a disappointing end to the season for Chelsea. And Potter’s future could be in doubt come May. Flick has proven his quality in the Bundesliga and the Champions League with Bayern Munich, and he certainly has the quality to succeed in the Premier League as well.
