Zinedine Zidane is open to returning to management and Manchester United are believed to be one of his admirers.

According to a report in the Spanish outlet Fichajes, following Didier Deschamps’ decision to extend his association with the French national team Zinedine Zidane is assessing his options and might return to managing clubs. Manchester United could be one of his possible destinations.

After leaving Real Madrid the World Cup winner hasn’t pursued any offers since then despite being linked to several coveted jobs. He was linked with the United job as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dismissal led to severe speculation with the Frenchman reportedly being one of the potential candidates.

But the Red Devils went ahead with Ralf Rangnick who was appointed as a temporary boss. Mauricio Pochettino’s departure also linked him heavily with PSG but he managed to steer clear as Christopher Galtier arrived at Parc des Princes.

He had hoped to land the most prestigious France post but Deschamp’s recent endeavours might force him to alter course. The current manager led Les Bleus to their second World Cup title in 2018 and was in touching distance this time around as they lost to Argentina via a penalty shootout.

France also conquered the UEFA Nations League leaving the French football association in a tough spot. Deschamps’ contract will be up for expiry and it is suggested he will get an extension and could stay in his position until the next World Cup.

It would mean Zidane would have to wait for his opportunity as his likely predecessor will not be leaving so soon unless something unexpected happens. United recently hired Erik ten Hag to rebuild their structure from scratch and they will sanction him time to prove his credibility in the Premier League.

Another obstacle for Zidane could be his suitability with the English language. The former Madrid manager isn’t very proficient in this particular language and he rejected a few offers from Premier League clubs in the past due to the language barrier.

But now the player is willing to work again and he might reconsider a new adventure on English soil.
