Barcelona will no longer pursue 18-year-old Chilean winger Dario Osorio, who will join Red Bull Bragantino from Universidad de Chile.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Dario Osorio will not earn a sensational move to Barcelona next year. The Catalan giants have called off the chase for the 18-year-old South American winger due to his price tag. And the youngster will now join Red Bull Bragantino from Universidad de Chile.

Dario Osorio is one of the most promising young wingers to have emerged in his homeland in the last few years. The teenage prodigy started his youth career at Santiago Wanderers before joining Escuela Municipal Hijuelas. But the Chilean wide man has made significant progress since moving to Universidad de Chile in 2015.

The 18-year-old rapidly progressed through the ranks at the Chilean club before breaking into the first-team squad recently. And Osorio scored on his debut against Colo-Colo. Since then, the youngster has continued to progress and scored seven goals in 27 appearances this season. Meanwhile, Osorio’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Barcelona.

Barcelona will part ways with Memphis Depay in the January transfer window, with the Dutchman keen on resurrecting his stuttering career. The Catalan giants are also eager to get his wages off their books, and a move outside Spain seems probable. And recent reports have linked Depay with Manchester United.

Barcelona will thus need to enter the market for a wide-attacking reinforcement, bringing Osorio into the picture. The 18-year-old winger’s versatility might have been an attractive trait for Barcelona. But the Blaugrana will not pursue the Chilean international anymore due to his price tag.

Universidad de Chile wanted to recoup around €8 million to part ways with Osorio. But Barcelona did not want to spend that much to bolster a position that is not a priority right now. That suggests that the Catalan giants want to pursue a player who might soon become a free agent. As for the 18-year-old South American winger, he will soon join Red Bull Bragantino.

Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City also showed interest in the Chilean international. But he will move across South America, joining Brazilian outfit Red Bull Bragantino. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see who Barcelona will pursue after calling off the move for the 18-year-old.
