Real Madrid have reportedly made contact with Mino Raiola, the agent of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland over a potential summer transfer.

According to Liberta Digital, Real Madrid have established contact with super-agent Mino Raiola to explore the possibility of signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

Haaland is currently the single-most sought-after striker in the transfer market after two very successful years at Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian international has plundered 80 goals and 21 assists from just 79 matches for the Black and Yellows, firmly establishing himself as one of the most dangerous centre-forwards in Europe.

With his €75 million release clause set to kick in this summer, a plethora of elite clubs all across the continent are lining up to sign him. There is a strong interest from Barcelona, while Real Madrid and Manchester City are also keen on snapping up the 21-year-old before the onset of the next campaign.

Real Madrid are set to revamp their attacking unit later this year as the likes of Gareth Bale, Luka Jovic, Mariano Diaz and even potentially Eden Hazard are expected to be on their way out. Kylian Mbappe is already believed to be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu, with a pre-contract agreement understood to be in place between the two parties.

However, club president Florentino Perez intends to add another top-quality forward and has identified Haaland as an option. With Mbappe likely to be utilised out wide, the Borussia Dortmund superstar could be lined up as the long-term replacement for ageing striker Karim Benzema.

Manchester City, too, are very interested in securing Haaland’s signing, having not replaced Sergio Aguero after his exit from the Etihad last year. The Cityzens have completed the signing of Argentine forward Julian Alvarez, who will arrive from River Plate in the summer. But Pep Guardiola wants an elite goalscorer in his ranks to help take the team to the next level, making Haaland a key target.

The report claims that the Premier League champions have been working intensely behind the scenes to get their hands on the striker. They are prepared to make a significant financial offer to Dortmund and the player. But, Real Madrid are hoping to beat them to the punch and have started talks with Mino Raiola to increase their chances of landing the 21-year-old.

It is further stated that Barcelona have minimal chances of signing Haaland, making it a two-way race between Real Madrid and Manchester City. And, it now remains to be seen who ends up prevailing in the battle and captures the signing of the Norwegian marksman.
