Transfer News: Chelsea reject Huddersfield Town’s loan bid for Harvey Vale

Chelsea have reportedly knocked back a deadline day loan offer from Huddersfield Town for 18-year-old prospect Harvey Vale.

According to Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella, Chelsea have rejected an offer from EFL Championship club Huddersfield Town for the loan signing of academy product Harvey Vale.

The 18-year-old started at the Fulham youth setup before switching to the Chelsea academy in the summer of 2016. He has since progressed at an impressive rate through the ranks, racking up 23 appearances for the Under-18s, scoring and assisting eight goals apiece. Since breaking into the club’s Under-23 outfit, he has produced a tally of six goals and four assists from 23 matches.

Vale made his first-team debut for Chelsea in a Carabao Cup clash against Brentford last month and has featured on two more occasions. A versatile attacking midfielder, the teenager can play in various positions in the final third of the pitch, including in the wide areas and a centre-forward.

Held in high regard at Chelsea, Vale has been attracting plenty of interest from teams in the EFL Championship, while several clubs from across Europe are also keeping tabs on the youngster.

And, according to Nizaar Kinsella, Huddersfield Town lodged an offer with Chelsea to sign the young forward on loan for the rest of the season. The Terriers are very much in the mix for a playoff finish in the EFL Championship, currently occupying the seventh spot in the standings.

Carlos Corberan’s side are keen on bolstering their attacking options to make a concerted push for a top-six finish and win a chance to earn a promotion to the Premier League. However, as per the report, Chelsea have swiftly knocked back the offer from Huddersfield Town.

The Blues have had problems in the attacking third with Romelu Lukaku misfiring and the likes of Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kai Havertz not performing consistently enough. So, even though Vale might not play a huge role for Thomas Tuchel’s side, the west Londoners need to have depth in their roster, given that they are still alive in four competitions.

It might be one of the reasons why Chelsea decided to reject Huddersfield Town’s offer to sign Vale on loan for the remaining part of the campaign.
