Federico Valverde has reportedly become a key target for Liverpool, with the Reds ready to offer €90 million to sign the Real Madrid midfielder.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Liverpool could offer a big sum to secure the services of Federico Valverde over a possible move in a future transfer window. The Reds are ready to submit a bid worth €90 million to prise the Uruguayan midfielder away from Real Madrid.

Federico Valverde joined Real Madrid from Penarol in July 2016 and was initially assigned to the club’s Castilla side. And after a season-long loan spell at Deportivo La Coruna, the 23-year-old has established a foothold in the Real Madrid first-team squad.

To date, the Uruguayan midfielder has turned out 121 times for Real Madrid, chipping in with five goals and seven assists in the process. However, Valverde is starting to become disillusioned at the club as he is yet to become a certain first-choice option in midfield. Such a situation has captured the attention of Liverpool.

The interest from Liverpool makes a world of sense, considering they chose not to bring in a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer transfer window. With James Milner in the twilight of his career and Jordan Henderson on the wrong side of 30, it behoves Liverpool to lay down a succession plan for their two English midfield stalwarts.

To that end, the Reds have recently been linked with several midfielders, including Ryan Gravenberch, with Valverde also a viable target. Interestingly, the Dutch midfielder has also been linked with Real Madrid and could replace Valverde if he joins Liverpool.

As for Liverpool’s pursuit of Valverde, the Premier League heavyweights are prepared to launch the offensive to secure the services of the 23-year-old. According to El Nacional, Liverpool could offer around €90 million to sign Valverde from Real Madrid, with the player considering a switch to Anfield.

The report claims Valverde is attracted by the idea of playing for a club that has genuine ambitions to win every trophy it competes for, meaning a switch to Liverpool could be possible. And if the Merseyside giants do table a €90 million offer, Real Madrid might be forced to consider selling the Uruguayan international, as they could be in contention to sign Erling Haaland in a big-money deal.
