Everton have enquired about Internacional forward Yuri Alberto although they face intense competition from AC Milan and Manchester City for the Brazilian.
According to Torcedores, Everton have made an approach to explore the prospect of signing young forward Yuri Alberto from Brazilian side Internacional. The 20-year-old has a contract until 2025, with a release clause of €80 million, although clubs from Europe are confident of sealing a move for significantly less.
Ever since Yuri Alberto moved clubs within Brazil, joining Internacional from boyhood team Santos last year, the forward has been a revelation. In 78 games, the striker has registered 29 goals and six assists in all competitions. This season alone, he has scored 11 league goals, making him an attractive option for European sides.
Since the summer, the 20-year-old has been courting plenty of interest. Many clubs have reportedly enquired Internacional about the forward, as the Brazilian club are open to a sale. However, they are not prepared to accept a low offer than their valuation of the striker.
There have been multiple Spanish and English sides tracking the forward in the recent past. Italian giants AC Milan even made an offer of €10 million to Internacional. The Brazilian side were on hand to reject it, demanding at least €20 million for Alberto.
Milan reportedly had a verbal agreement with Alberto, although with Internacional demanding double their initial bid, the door might be open for other suitors to stake a claim. Manchester City are also among the sides interested, with Pep Guardiola, a big fan of Brazilian strikers.
Everton have also reportedly entered the race for the young striker and have made an enquiry for Alberto. The Merseysiders want to refresh their front line and bring in a new option to bolster their attacking play. Despite the presence of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Salomon Rondon, they might do well with a young striker.
Alberto is considered a strong prospect but will have to go through a massive developmental phase like many Brazilian strikers do to become an integral part of clubs in Europe. And Everton might be able to offer him a good amount of first-team football. He could be a good addition to the Premier League, following the steps of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, who have flourished here.
The Merseysiders will have to act quickly as AC Milan and Manchester City could try and beat them for the forward’s signing.
