Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale is reportedly keen on seeing out his contract at the Bernabeu amid interest from Premier League club Newcastle United.

According to a report from Spanish publication Defensa Central, Newcastle United have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Gareth Bale as the Welsh superstar is intent on staying at the Santiago Bernabeu till his contract runs out.

Bale has been with Real Madrid since 2013 when he signed from Tottenham Hotspur. The 32-year-old Welsh wing-wizard grew into a pivotal player at the Spanish capital outfit, playing a crucial part in the club’s success domestically and in Europe. However, over the past couple of seasons, he had fallen out of favour under former manager Zinedine Zidane.

Bale spent the last season out on loan at former club Tottenham and fared decently. Now back in Spain, he was integrated into the team by new boss Carlo Ancelotti before another injury set him back. Given his massive wages and limited role in the side, Real Madrid would welcome an opportunity to offload him as they have big plans for next year.

And, Newcastle United were said to be willing to take on the Welshman in the January transfer window. The Magpies are in the market for new players following their big takeover as they look to turn their fortunes around and make progress in the Premier League.

Someone of Bale’s proven pedigree and star quality would be a top signing for a club like Newcastle as they look to usher in a new era at St. James’ Park. Given their lack of quality options beyond Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin in the attacking unit, the Welsh international would have added more options.

However, as per the aforementioned report, Bale has no interest whatsoever in a move to Newcastle United. Instead, the 32-year-old ex-Tottenham man wants to see his contract out with Los Blancos. His deal with the club runs till the end of the season, following which he will take a call on what lies next for him.

For now, it looks like Bale will not be moving anywhere during the January transfer window. As for Newcastle, they have been linked with many other top players including Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman.
