Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on 18-year-old Spanish prodigy Alex Garcia, who is being viewed as the next Pedri-like acquisition.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are set to activate what is being called the repeat of the “Pedri Operation”, with two UD Las Palmas prodigy on their radar. The Catalan giants have set their sights on Alberto Moleiro and Alex Garcia, who have both made their first-team debuts this season.

Alex Garcia is viewed as one of the most promising young attackers plying their trade in the second tier of Spanish football at the moment. Primarily assigned to the Juvenil A side at UD Las Palmas, the 18-year-old has made such a brilliant impression at the Canary Islands club’s youth setup that he has now graduated to the first-team squad as well.

Also a part of the Spanish under-19 side, Garcia has two goals in as many outings for the team, which further underpins why he is rated so highly. And now, one of the biggest clubs in Europe have set their sights on the teenage prodigy, with Barcelona scouting him regularly of late.

Barcelona have made a reputation of signing the brightest young prospects in Spain, an outlook that has seen them sign promising players like Pedri, who has quickly become a pivotal figure for the club. In addition, the Blaugrana have also tracked players from outside Spain, with Emre Demir set to arrive at the club to that end.

The latest operation, though, is within the Spanish region, with Barcelona returning to Las Palmas to do a repeat of the scouting mission that fetched them Pedri. As a result, Alex Garcia and Alberto Moleiro have popped up on the Catalan giants’ radar.

As per Mundo Deportivo, the reports on Moleiro are more glowing, although Barcelona have already contacted Las Palmas over the prospect of signing either or both of the players. The final decision is yet to be made, though.

For now, both Garcia and Moleiro appear to be on the radar of Barcelona, who are considering the possibility of repeating the “Pedri Operation”. It remains to be seen if either or both of the players end up making their way to Camp Nou anytime soon.
