Transfer News: Florian Wirtz on Real Madrid radar

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on Florian Wirtz and could be making a move for the 18-year-old German prodigy next summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Florian Wirtz has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid, who have been closely monitoring him in recent times. In fact, the Spanish giants are also considering the possibility of snapping up the 18-year-old German prodigy next summer.

Florian Wirtz spent most of his formative years with 1.FC Koln before switching allegiances to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of his youth footballing days. And after joining Die Werkself in 2020, the teenage prodigy took little time to break into the first-team setup, making his senior debut the same year, aged just 17 years and 15 days.

Since then, Wirtz has made some massive strides in his career, becoming a mainstay in attack for Bayer Leverkusen while also breaking into the German national side. The 18-year-old has made a phenomenal start to the new season as well, with four goals and as many assists in just five games. His exploits seem to have now caught the attention of one of the biggest clubs in the world – Real Madrid.

The Merengues are constantly on the lookout for the most promising talents across the world, an outlook that has helped them build a young long-term core that facilitates smooth transitions in every department. To that end, Real Madrid have signed the likes of Federico Valverde, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. in recent years, with the most recent acquisition being Eduardo Camavinga.

The Spanish giants appear to be in search of attacking prospects at the moment, with Antony among the players to have been scouted lately. And now, Wirtz has emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, who have been keeping tabs on his progress in recent times.

In fact, Los Blancos have received such glowing reports on the 18-year-old that they are pondering a summer move for him. The report also mentions that Wirtz could be considered as an even better prospect that Kai Havertz, who was once tracked by Real Madrid as well.

What now remains to be seen is if Real Madrid continue to closely monitor the German prodigy in the weeks and months to come this season. And if his campaign goes from strength to strength, it will hardly be surprising to see Real join a raft of other suitors in pursuit of Wirtz next summer.
