Manchester United could be drawn up towards making a move for former Chelsea ace Valentino Livramento to solve their right-back issues

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are chasing Valentino Livramento to solve their right-back problems and bring in fair competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been impressed by the Southampton ace’s rise and remains interested in a move.

Manchester United made some terrific signings during the summer window, which strengthened their squad and made them challengers on all fronts. The arrival of attractive new and old faces of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo has seen them move a level up, although they remain active for a right-back.

Manchester United were looking for a right-back after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer demanded one during the window. The club chased Kieran Trippier all summer long but were unwilling to meet Atletico Madrid’s demands over the England international.

Trippier will be 32 next summer, and it is highly doubtful Solskjaer would want him then. However, the Manchester manager seems to have changed his approach to solving the right-back situation. He is now targeting a young, upcoming star, with Valentino Livramento of Southampton a firm target.

Solskjaer has reportedly been unhappy with Wan-Bissaka’s performances and contributions, and his dismissal against Young Boys seems to have infuriated the Manchester manager. The Norwegian feels a lack of competition could be the problem, despite the presence of the Diogo Dalot.

Their target, Tino Livramento, was a highly rated academy product from Chelsea. The 18-year-old wanted to play regularly this season and moved to Southampton for £5 million after realising chances won’t come easily at Stamford Bridge.

The teenager has subsequently started in all five of Southampton’s Premier League games this season, helping them to a clean sheet against Manchester City on Saturday. However, growing interest from the likes of Manchester United could ensure his stay at St.Mary’s is a short one.

If Manchester United come up with a huge offer, the Saints could consider it or demand a higher fee for the former Chelsea prospect. They could end up demanding something similar to what Manchester United paid Crystal Palace for Wan-Bissaka, although it is unlikely United would pay such an exorbitant sum. However, Livramento remains a target and could be a great addition to Solskjaer’s side for the future.
