Transfer News: Bernardo Silva offered to Real Madrid

Real Madrid have been offered the opportunity to secure the services of Bernardo Silva, who is valued at €40 million by Manchester City.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Bernardo Silva before the summer transfer window slams shut. The Portuguese playmaker is valued at around €40 million by Premier League champions Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva joined Manchester City from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017. The 27-year-old has since endured a roller-coaster of a ride at the Etihad, and in the last couple of seasons, he has been handed a rotation role by Pep Guardiola. So far in his stint with the Premier League giants, he has amassed 203 appearances for the club, chipping in with 35 goals and 44 assists in the process.

Things seem to have reached a head for the Portuguese playmaker, who has expressed his desire to leave Manchester City before the summer transfer window slams shut. This has piqued the interest of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Barcelona. And now, Silva has been offered to Real Madrid by his agent.

The Manchester City playmaker could be a viable target for Real Madrid, seeing as they are in the market for a midfielder. Los Blancos indeed seem to be keen on laying down the succession plan for Luka Modric, who is in the final stage of his storied career whereas Toni Kroos is well into his thirties as well.

As a result, the Spanish giants have been linked with a host of midfielders this summer, with the likes of Paul Pogba, Marcelo Brozovic and Tanguy Ndombele emerging on their radar. Silva could even be an option higher up the pitch on the right wing for Real Madrid amid the inconsistencies of Rodrygo Goes, Marco Asensio and Vinicius Jr.

Signing him, though, will cost a fair bit of money, with Manchester City demanding €40 million in exchange of his services. However, Real Madrid have no interest in signing Silva, which ought to come as a major blow for the 27-year-old playmaker.

What now remains to be seen is if a club seriously pursues a move for the Portuguese international, or if he is forced to stay put at Manchester City. For now, the only certainty is the fact that Silva is eager to leave the Premier League champions and it will be interesting to see if he gets his wish soon.
