Inter Milan wish to sign a second striker just days after completing the addition of Edin Dzeko, with Real Madrid misfit Luka Jovic a loan target.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Inter Milan are interested in signing Luka Jovic from Real Madrid before the summer transfer window slams shut. The Serie A champions are prepared to invest €3 million in a loan deal for the Real Madrid misfit, although Los Blancos would prefer a permanent transfer.

Luka Jovic joined Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 and has since seen his career go consistently downhill. Having arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu amid a lot of hype surrounding him following a stunning 2018/19 campaign with Frankfurt, the Serb has simply failed to live up to the billing.

To date, Jovic has managed a paltry return of just two goals and as many assists in 32 appearances for Real Madrid. With his career going nowhere at the club, Real Madrid appear set to cut their losses on the 23-year-old, who does not really have any shortage of suitors either. The only bone of contention for Real Madrid is the possibility of offloading him on a permanent transfer.

The latest rumour, though, does not really come as good news for the Merengues, with Inter Milan looking to secure his services on a loan deal, having kept around €3 million aside for the same. Real Madrid, though, are hoping they can convince a party to sign him outright.

As for Inter, they have recently lost the services of Romelu Lukaku, who has rejoined Chelsea after a two-year stint with the Serie A champions. The Nerazzurri have since signed Edin Dzeko from AS Roma, with the veteran Bosnian striker likely to be the immediate replacement for the Belgian striker.

However, with Dzeko into the twilight of his career, it will be a prudent move for Inter to sign another forward, especially in the wake of widespread speculation linking Alexis Sanchez with a summer exit as well. In Jovic, they will have a player who appears to revel in a two-striker system unlike the one that has been in place at Real Madrid.

The youngster has previously been linked with Manchester United for a brief period as well, but it looks like Inter Milan are the most serious contenders. Having said that, it will be interesting to see if the Serie A champions can convince Real Madrid to let Jovic make his way to San Siro on a loan deal instead of a permanent transfer, which will be difficult to execute for them amid their financial woes.
