Manchester City are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on Hajduk Split’s youth sensation Stipe Biuk, also a target for SC Freiburg and Spezia.

According to the Croatian news outlet, Slobodna Malmacija, Manchester City, are among the clubs interested in the services of Stipe Biuk. They have been scouting the 18-year-old Hajduk Split sensation for quite some time now, and their scouts were present in the club’s recent league game against HNK Gorica.

Manchester City are not the only club interested, though, with SC Freiburg, Spezia and Odense also keeping an eye on the youngster. A winger by trade, Biuk has already turned a lot of heads with his performances in the Croatian top-flight, notably mustering 15 competitive appearances for the club.

Biuk initially made his breakthrough for Hajduk during the back end of last season, even becoming a first-team regular for the club. He made a total of nine appearances, scoring three goals and registering three assists. His exploits in the final third have put Manchester City on red alert.

The English champions have recently secured the services of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, but it appears Pep Guardiola is determined to build a solid base for the future. Moreover, Manchester City are expected to lose multiple first-team stars before the end of the ongoing summer transfer window.

Guardiola has already confirmed Bernardo Silva’s desire to leave the Etihad, while Raheem Sterling is also undecided over his long term future at the club. The addition of a few young players could thus be essential in building a group that would look to dominate English football in the years to come.

Stipe Biuk should be a good start, having already shown a lot of promise in the Croatian top-flight with Hajduk Split. A lot of Croatian talents have already made a lot of headway in recent years, and given Guardiola’s ability to transform players, the 18-year-old should be an ideal long-term addition at Manchester City.

However, it remains to be seen whether Manchester City succeed in their pursuit of the winger, especially with clubs like SC Freiburg interested. There is no doubt that Bundesliga has proven itself as a more appealing league to young players across Europe, so it won’t be surprising to see Biuk opting to move to Germany instead.

Currently valued at €4 million by Transfermarkt, Hajduk Split are likely to demand more for the 18-year-old sensation. It should serve as a potential boost for Manchester City, as the majority of the other interested parties cannot afford to spend lavishly in the current financial climate.
