Everton are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Dutch international Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven this summer.
According to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, Everton are among the clubs that are vying for the signature of Denzel Dumfries. The 25-year-old Dutch international is set to leave PSV Eindhoven in the summer transfer window, with Inter Milan also keen on securing his services.
Denzel Dumfries has progressed leaps and bounds since joining PSV Eindhoven from Heerenveen in the summer of 2018. Over the last three years, the 25-year-old has been a pivotal figure for the Dutch giants while also becoming a full-fledged member of the national side.
The full-back most recently enjoyed a solid campaign with Netherlands at UEFA Euro 2020, where he was one of the better performers for his national side. However, Dumfries appears set to leave the Dutch outfit this summer, with manager Roger Schmidt also admitting that it is possible that he and Donyell Malen call it quits at the club. His situation has piqued the interest of Everton among other suitors.
Everton are likely to be forced to dip their toes in the transfer market for a right-back this summer, seeing as captain Seamus Coleman is reaching the final phase of his career. In addition, Jonjoe Kenny is likely to depart Goodison Park as well, having been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent times.
As a result, it is not too surprising that Everton wish to bolster the right-back slot by making a move for a player like Denzel Dumfries. However, the 25-year-old has no shortage of suitors, with former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti coaxing Real Madrid to sign him. In addition, Inter Milan are also keen on the Dutch international, as they scour the market for a replacement for Achraf Hakimi.
However, PSV Eindhoven are yet to receive an offer for Dumfries, although Rik Elfrink has added that the bids are likely to flow in soon enough. All in all, it appears as if Dumfries could well have played his final game for the Dutch giants, with a summer departure more than expected.
What now remains to be seen is if Everton launch the offensive for the 25-year-old anytime soon. Making their move quickly will be key for the Toffees, especially with Inter Milan also hot on the trails of Dumfries this summer.
