Chelsea reportedly want to recoup €20 million from the sale of Emerson Palmieri, who is a target for Inter Milan this summer.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Inter Milan have been told how much they will have to pay to sign Emerson Palmieri in the summer transfer window. Chelsea are demanding a transfer fee of €20 million to part ways with the out-of-favour defender.
Emerson Palmieri joined Chelsea from AS Roma in January 2018 and has endured a difficult stint at Stamford Bridge. In what has mostly been forgettable three or so years with the Blues, the 26-year-old Italian international has never really been able to nail down his spot as a regular at the back.
Things have hardly improved since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, with Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso ahead of him in the pecking order. As a result, Emerson managed just 789 minutes of action in the 2020/21 season and is almost certain to leave Chelsea this summer. And, one club that is keen on swooping the 26-year-old away from Chelsea are Inter Milan.
The interest from Inter Milan makes a lot of sense, considering Ashley Young is expected to return to England by joining Watford, while Ivan Perisic and Matteo Darmian are both facing uncertain futures at San Siro, which is why it is important that they sign a left wing-back.
To that end, Emerson could be the perfect player to solve their issues, with the 26-year-old better suited to a role as a wing-back. The Italian international is not the only Chelsea player who has been linked with Inter Milan, who have reportedly been offered the chance to sign the out-of-favour Davide Zappacosta this summer.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, on their part, are also planning for life after Emerson – as well as Alonso – with the Blues being linked with a few left-backs, while Achraf Hakimi is also on their radar. As for Emerson himself, the 26-year-old is valued at around €20 million by Chelsea, with Inter Milan now being communicated his price tag.
What will now be interesting to see is if Emerson does indeed leave Chelsea this summer and if Inter Milan are ready to meet his €20 million valuation. As things stand, the out-of-favour defender faces a largely non-existent future at Stamford Bridge.
