Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly established contact with Tottenham goal machine Harry Kane over a possible move this summer.
According to a report by London Evening Standard, Chelsea and Manchester United, along with Manchester City, have stepped up their efforts to sign Harry Kane in the summer transfer window. The Premier League heavyweights have approached the England captain’s representatives to discuss a possible transfer.
Kane, for the better part of the past half-a-decade, has been one of the best players in the game, often scoring goals for fun. During this period, he has also won three Golden Boots in the Premier League, including one in the 2020/21 season, wherein he also provided the most assists in the top-flight.
However, despite all the success on an individual level, trophies have often alluded Kane, much to his frustration. And, things seemed to have finally reached a head, with widespread reports pointing towards a possible summer exit. Such a development has piqued the interest of Chelsea and Manchester United, among others.
Chelsea’s interest in signing Kane makes a lot of sense, considering Jorginho was their top scorer in the Premier League, with each of his goals coming from the penalty spot. To address such a major issue in his squad, it is hardly surprising that a new striker is a priority for Thomas Tuchel – and Roman Abramovich for that matter. To that end, Kane is a viable target for Chelsea.
Manchester United, on the other hand, are ready to part ways with Anthony Martial following a horrendous 2020/21 campaign for the Frenchman. Martial’s potential departure would leave the Red Devils with the ageing Edinson Cavani and the inexperienced Mason Greenwood as the only other options to lead the line, which is why Kane is an option worth considering.
In fact, recent reports have suggested that Manchester United are ready to offer Kane a lucrative deal to make the switch to Old Trafford. Apart from Chelsea and Manchester United, Manchester City are also hot on the trails of the England captain, who has now been approached by the three Premier League heavyweights.
Kane, though, has put discussions over his club future on hold till after the end of England’s UEFA Euro 2020 campaign. The report, though, does suggest that talks between the suitors and Kane’s entourage could be a possibility. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see how the discussions progress, as Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City step up their efforts to sign the Spurs’ goal machine.
