Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are on red alert as Real Sociedad prepare themselves for the sale of Alexander Isak this summer.
A recent report from El Gol Digital has shed some light on Alexander Isak’s future at Real Sociedad. It is believed that the Swedish striker will be sold by the Spanish outfit this summer, with the player reportedly having a €70 million release clause that would make him the biggest departure in the club’s history.
Barcelona are among the clubs keen on securing the services of Isak, but the Catalans could face stiff competition from the Premier League trio in Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool while European giants Bayern Munich are also keeping their eye on the former Borussia Dortmund striker, who has enjoyed stellar success in Spain.
Indeed, the 21-year-old has netted almost 30 goals in 83 competitive matches since joining Real Sociedad in 2018. This season, in particular, the young Swede has enjoyed tremendous growth, with his 13 goals helping La Real emerge as the best performing outside the top four in La Liga.
The interest surrounding Isak, therefore, is hardly surprising, with Manchester United, in particular, hoping to sign him up as the desired long-term replacement for Edinson Cavani next season.
Manchester United, though, are not the only interested party, as former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel hopes to acquire Isak’s services at Chelsea. It was the German tactician who had initially brought the Swede to Germany, albeit reportedly against his will and it appears he is impressed with the striker’s progress at Real Sociedad.
A product of the AIK youth academy in his native Sweden, Isak could turn out to be a valuable addition for Chelsea as he can not only replace the ageing Olivier Giroud but can also offer an ideal alternative to Timo Werner, who has struggled to live up to the expectations since joining from RB Leipzig last summer.
Werner has even been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, which might make things all the more interesting, although in Liverpool, Isak has another potential alternative to Chelsea and Manchester United, as far as the Premier League is concerned.
Roberto Firmino has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer, meaning Liverpool are hoping to find a potential alternative or even a replacement while Mohamed Salah, too, is facing an uncertain future at the club. It should pave the way nicely for Isak to become an instant at Anfield next season.
However, for an astounding fee of €70 million, it remains to be whether any of Chelsea, Manchester United or Liverpool are willing to take that much of a risk, especially in the current financial climate that has ensued growing debt.
