Arsenal are reportedly among several clubs that are hoping to secure the services of Samu Chukwueze from Villarreal this coming summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital,  Samu Chukwueze is garnering attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Arsenal are one of the suitors in pursuit of the 21-year-old winger, who is open to leaving Villarreal in the summer transfer window and has an €80 million release clause.

Samu Chukwueze joined Villarreal in the summer of 2017 and made gradual progress at the Spanish club before establishing a foothold in the first-team squad. In the ongoing campaign, the young winger has gone in and out of the starting lineup, but for Chukwueze still has a return of 4 goals and 7 assists in 36 appearances to show for his efforts.

His progress and potential have piqued the interest of several clubs across Europe. And, heading into this summer’s transfer window, as many as four clubs are hot on his trails, one of those being Premier League giants Arsenal.

The Gunners bolstered their attack by signing a winger for a second successive summer last year with the acquisition of Willian, having secured the services of Nicolas Pepe in 2019. However, neither move has worked out well for Arsenal, although Pepe appears to be starting to turn things around slowly.

Nevertheless, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang facing an uncertain future, Bukayo Saka remains the only other consistent performer for Arsenal, as far as the wide areas are concerned. To that end, Arsenal have been linked with a number of potential options to arrive as a reinforcement.

One of their reported targets if Wilfried Zaha, but Chukwueze is a viable target as well. At 21, the Villarreal star will also provide the best years of his career to the Premier League heavyweights, although in order to swoop him away from the La Liga club, suitors might need to trigger his €80 million release clause.

The report is pointing towards the same, although it does mention that one of the suitors, Atletico Madrid have no intention to pay €80 million to secure his services, while Everton and West Ham United are also tailing him. What will be interesting to see now is if Arsenal also wish to negotiate a lower transfer fee for the 21-year-old, as they prepare to make a move for him soon.
