Transfer News: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City battling for Martin Satriano

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all reportedly vying for the signature of Inter Milan prodigy Martin Satriano in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Inter Milan sensation Martin Satriano seems to be a man in high demand as three Premier League heavyweights in Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are lining up to sign him in the summer.

Satriano, 20, came through the youth ranks at Club Nacional in his homeland of Uruguay before making the switch to Inter Milan in January 2020. The young centre-forward has been playing for the Nerazzurri’s Primavera outfit ever since, racking up 22 appearances, in which he has produced a return of nine goals and four assists.

Satriano has made it to the matchday squad for the Inter Milan senior team on three occasions this term. However, he is yet to make his debut for Antonio Conte’s side. Nevertheless, his exploits with the reserves have been enough for a number of clubs to take note of his abilities and line up a summer move. And among those interested are Arsenal, Chelsea as well as Manchester City.

Arsenal’s interest in the 20-year-old should not come as a major surprise considering as the club is mulling over the sales of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah this summer. While Folarin Balogun did sign a new contract with the club, bringing in someone like Satriano would add more options and bench strength at Mikel Arteta’s disposal heading into the new season.

As for Chelsea, the Blues, too, will need to add depth to their attacking unit in the summer as Olivier Giroud will be out of contract at the end of the season while Tammy Abraham is also considering his future after dropping down the pecking order. Even though Chelsea are vying to sign Erling Haaland, adding Satriano would ensure that they have enough cover in the squad, even if they sign Haaland and retain Timo Werner.

Manchester City are set to lose Sergio Aguero at the end of the season and have their sights set on either Haaland or Harry Kane to replace the veteran Argentine. But, with Gabriel Jesus the only other centre-forward at Pep Guardiola’s disposal, bringing in Satriano could help add more depth and competition within the squad, especially as youngster Liam Delap has reportedly been targeted by Real Madrid.

Apart from the aforementioned trio of Premier League clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig are closely following the development of Satriano. Inter Milan, for their part, see the 20-year-old as someone with a bright future at the club. However, given their financial problems, the Serie A giants may well be forced into cashing in on some of their assets this summer, including Satriano.

It now remains to be seen if any of Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester City make a move for the Uruguayan centre-forward in the upcoming transfer window or if he ends up staying put at Inter.
