Real Madrid are reportedly facing stiff competition from Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to sign Eduardo Camavinga this summer.
According to a report by AS, Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly key contenders in the race to sign Eduardo Camavinga in the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old is also a target for Real Madrid, with PSG also monitoring the situation of the Stade Rennais prodigy.
Camavinga has become one of the hottest properties in the transfer market since enjoying a breakthrough campaign with Rennes last season. In fact, last summer, the teenage French prodigy was linked with a number of top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid, before he chose to stay put at Roazhon Park.
The ongoing campaign has been a little slow for Camavinga, who has 1 goal and 2 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions. However, the 18-year-old remains a highly-rated prospect, which is why some of the biggest clubs in the world, like Chelsea and Manchester United, are giving Real Madrid a run for their money for him ahead of the summer.
Real Madrid, as iterated, hold a long-standing interest in Camavinga, who has even been touted to be their priority for the summer. The interest from the Merengues makes sense as well, considering Luka Modric is in the twilight of his career despite his exploits this season while Toni Kroos is also in his thirties now.
To that end, Camavinga is a viable target for Real Madrid, with the player himself keen on joining them in the summer. However, Los Blancos could be in trouble if Zinedine Zidane is no longer in-charge come next season, which, in turn, is now opening up the chance for Chelsea and Manchester United to possibly make a swoop for the French international.
The interest from Chelsea is not unfounded, especially with Jorginho once again being linked with a possible return to Italy. Jorginho’s departure will open up a spot in the Blues’ midfield department; and with loanees Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley facing uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge, it is not hard to see why the west Londoners are keen on Camavinga.
As for Manchester United, a possible pursuit of Camavinga could be linked with the fact that there are question marks being raised over the future of Paul Pogba once again. While Manchester United are in pursuit of Jack Grealish, along with Chelsea, the English international’s hefty price tag means it is prudent to keep their options open, thereby explaining the interest in the teenager.
Apart from Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid, Camavinga is also the subject of interest from PSG. However, Real Madrid will be his number one priority if he chooses to leave Rennes this summer, with the caveat being that Zidane is still Los Blancos’ boss before the onset of the 2021/22 season. An intriguing summer beckons Camavinga and his suitors.
