Barcelona are interested in signing Bryan Gil, who has a €35 million exit clause, as confirmed by one of their scouts German Vaya Ballabriga ‘Mani’.

As quoted by Spanish outlet MARCA, German Vaya Ballabriga ‘Mani’, a highly respected Barcelona scout has confirmed that the Blaugrana are interested in signing Bryan Gil. The 19-year-old Spanish prodigy, who is currently on loan at Eibar from Sevilla, has a €35 million release clause in his contract.

Bryan Gil joined Sevilla’s youth setup in 2012 and subsequently made some giant strides within the club’s academy before making grade in the reserve side just six years later. The teenage prodigy then broke into the first-team setup in January 2019 and made 20 further appearances before being hauled off on loan last year in the winter window.

The 19-year-old first joined Leganes for the second half of the 2020/21 season before making his way to Eibar last summer. And, it is at Eibar where he has been immensely impressive, with 3 goals and 2 assists in 16 outings till date. His progress has alerted a number of top clubs, one among which are Barcelona.

In fact, German Vaya Ballabriga ‘Mani’, a highly respected scout with Barcelona has officially confirmed that the Catalan giants are keeping a keen eye on Gil, who he has compared with former Barcelona superstar Neymar. Mani said, “Right now he is Spain’s best footballer and I compare him with Neymar.”

“He can do certain things and has great versatility, as he can play at full-back in the middle or on the left wing. It’s impressive. I have spoken with Roman Planes about him and he has Bryan Gil in mind. If he is signed now then his release clause is €35 million, but if he signs a new deal with Sevilla then he’ll have a release clause worth €150 million.”

Barcelona’s interest in Gil makes sense, considering Philippe Coutinho is once again facing an uncertain future at Barcelona. Apart from the Brazilian international, Ronald Koeman has the likes of Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, Francisco Trincao and Ansu Fati, another player discovered by Mani, at his disposal for the attacking unit.

However, with Barcelona in a precarious position regarding the future of Messi, it makes sense to secure their long-term solution in the form of Gil, who is also reportedly on Real Madrid’s radar. His current €35 million release clause further makes him an attractive prospect for a club that is facing financial difficulties at the moment.

Having said that, it remains to be seen if Barcelona do end up making a move for Gil in the summer.
