Chelsea have reportedly identified Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian sensation, Erling Haaland, as a priority transfer target for the next summer window.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante, Premier League heavyweights Chelsea have identified prolific Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as one of their top targets for next summer’s transfer window, along with West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

Chelsea enjoyed a highly successful summer window last time out as Frank Lampard splashed the cash on some exceptional attacking talents like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, while also strengthening his defensive unit with the signings of Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva.

However, Werner has found adaptation to English football difficult in his debut campaign and has struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks. In addition, Olivier Giroud, who has been in good touch so far this term, is already 34 years old and will see his contract expire at the end of the season.

Thus, bolstering the centre-forward slot come summer will be important for Lampard & co. And, it seems like Chelsea have narrowed down on Norwegian international Haaland. The 20-year-old started out at Bryne FK in his homeland before sealing a move to Molde.

However, it was at Red Bull Salzburg, whom he joined in January 2019, where Haaland burst onto the scenes as a star in the making. After enjoying a prolific year with the Austrian outfit, the striker had the whole of Europe pushing to sign him but chose to join Borussia Dortmund in January earlier this year.

Since joining the German heavyweights, the 20-year-old has continued on his goalscoring ways, bagging 33 goals and 6 assists in 32 games so far. Haaland enjoyed a fine start to the ongoing campaign, finding the back of the net on 17 occasions in just 14 games before he was sidelined with an injury earlier this month.

Both Manchester City and Manchester United are said to be interested in signing the Norwegian international while La Liga giants Barcelona are also reported to be considering a move for the 20-year-old. And now, with Chelsea also entering the fray, there could very well be a bidding war for his services come summer next year.
