Predicted Liverpool lineup against Fulham: Alisson, Robertson to return; Jota misses out

Alisson Becker and Andrew Robertson are set to return, but Diogo Jota misses out when Liverpool take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Liverpool will hope to consolidate their place in the upper echelons of the Premier League table when they lock horns with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening. And, Jurgen Klopp has a couple of fresh injury concerns to deal with ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas sustained knocks during Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League tie with Midtjylland earlier this week. The duo is likely to miss out against Fulham, meaning they will be replaced by Sadio Mane and Andrew Robertson in the starting lineup on Sunday.

Klopp did provide an update on Tsimikas and Jota, as well as Alisson Becker and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during his pre-match press conference. The Liverpool boss said, “Ali will train today, that’s what I’ve heard. I came in and came directly to the press [conference] so all the meetings are after that and yes, Ali will train and if he trains and all fine, then he can play.”

“Kostas we have to see, Diogo we have to see – he got a knock as well. That’s it from the game, I think. Apart from that, Oxlade is in normal training. He has been doing parts of training now for a week or so, he is now in full training and we will see. So the situation probably demands to involve him as soon as possible, but I don’t know if the weekend is that already. Nobody else is coming back, I’m afraid.”

Alisson did participate in full training on Friday and should, therefore, reclaim his spot in  the Liverpool goal. As iterated earlier, Robertson will replace Tsimikas, which was likely to happen irrespective of the latter’s injury. On the opposite flank, Trent Alexander-Arnold should start again after coming through the midweek European game unscathed.Liverpool

At the heart of the Liverpool defence, there is no looking past Fabinho and Joel Matip. Up ahead in midfield, the likes of Curtis Jones, Georginio Wijnaldum and captain Jordan Henderson should all be back, having been given a breather earlier this week.

Finally, in attack, Mohamed Salah is the only player who keeps hold of his spot from the midweek fixture. Mane will come in for the injured Jota while Roberto Firmino replaces Divock Origi to reprise his usual False Nine role.

Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Firmino, Mane
