Roy Keane reveals he was worried about Sergio Aguero before injury layoff

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has revealed that he was disturbed by Sergio Aguero and his overweight frame when he returned last month.

As quoted by The Sun, Roy Keane has opined on Sergio Aguero’s frame while speaking on Sky Sports as a pundit. The Manchester United legend has said that he was worried by the Argentine striker when he returned from injury for Manchester City last month.

Aguero has become a bonafide legend for Manchester City since making the switch from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011. Now into his tenth season as a Manchester City player, the 32-year-old has not only become the club’s all-time top scorer but is also one of the most prolific players in the history of the Premier League.

However, all through his time at Manchester City, Aguero has been constantly plagued by injury issues. The latest forced him to miss the start of the 2020/21 season, with his campaign last term coming to a premature end due to the same issue.

Aguero returned from injury last month, as Manchester City looked to kick-start their campaign. The veteran striker, though, was sidelined almost as soon as he returned due to a hamstring complaint. And, while speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports (h/t The Sun), Manchester United legend Roy Keane had some interesting comments for Aguero.

“My issue with Aguero when he came back, he looked overweight. God knows what size shorts he was wearing but he did look really heavy. Sometimes you can be out injured, come back and hit the ground running. This idea that players need two or three months to get back to speed, I was worried when he came back. I think he looks really, really heavy.”

Whatever is holding Aguero back, Manchester City do appear to be in need of getting their star striker back in peak fitness as soon as possible, with their campaign in the Premier League yet to properly take off.

However, if he is indeed struggling with weight issues, as Manchester United legend Roy Keane has claimed, Aguero might just be set to face an extended spell on the sidelines, even after regaining fitness, as he is expected to in the coming weeks.
