Premier League trio Leeds United, Chelsea and Everton are reportedly monitoring Sergio Romero’s situation at Manchester United closely.

According to ESPN, Manchester United’s current number two Sergio Romero is garnering attention from the likes of Leeds United, Everton and Chelsea. The Argentine international is on the radar of the Premier League trio as a potential target, should he become available.

Manchester United are deeply embroiled in talks with Dean Henderson over a new long-term contract and while the Red Devils would look to offer him on loan, there is a probability that the Englishman ends up staying at Old Trafford and competing with David de Gea for the top spot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has publicly admitted that it would be impossible to keep three top goalkeepers happy at Manchester United, which means Sergio Romero might be made available by the club if things pan out as aforementioned. The Argentine international has served as the understudy to de Gea for several years, putting in consistently convincing performances whenever called upon.

Romero, though, has been linked with a move away, especially with little to no prospects of ever becoming the first-choice keeper at Manchester United in the near future. Should the Argentine international choose to move, he could have three offers to stay put in the Premier League, with Leeds, Everton and Chelsea keeping track of the veteran.

Leeds United will be an immediate attraction purely due to the presence of Marcelo Bielsa as the manager of the club. The Premier League returnees have Kiko Casilla as their current first-choice. But, with Illan Meslier’s loan deal set to end, the youngster will move back to Lorient, creating a void in the goalkeeping department.

Romero, with his Premier League experience, would be a marquee signing for Leeds, who would be intent on making their mark and not going down immediately.

As far as Everton are concerned, Carlo Ancelotti has been far from impressed with the performances of Jordan Pickford, who could find himself on the chopping block at Goodison Park. Sergio Romero would be an immediate upgrade and a short-term signing that will allow Ancelotti to strengthen at the back for now.

Chelsea are looking for someone to challenge Kepa Arrizabalaga for the number one spot. The Spaniard lost the spot to Willy Caballero towards the end of the season and Lampard is looking for someone steady and consistent enough to take over in Chelsea’s goal.

Chelsea and Leeds United are both rivals of Manchester United and it will be tough to see Romero move to either. Everton could be a good shout; but so should a move back to Argentina. The veteran has often iterated his desire to return to his homeland and this summer could present the opportunity to do so. Whatever he chooses, he will have the pick of the lot.
