Leeds United are reportedly plotting a shock summer move for former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is touted to leave AC Milan.

According to a report by The Sun, Leeds United are scouring the possibility of securing the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in an audacious move . The former Manchester United striker has admitted he could leave AC Milan in the summer transfer window.

Ibrahimovic has enjoyed a storied career, representing some of the best clubs in the world, which include Manchester United, Barcelona and PSG, among others. Currently, the veteran Swedish striker is in his second stint at AC Milan, where he has sparked a stunning turnaround since joining in the winter.

The overall tally in his career is astonishing, with the 38-year-old having a return of 464 goals and 184 assists in 758 outings in his club career in addition to also scoring 62 goals in 116 appearances for Sweden. Still going strong, the former Manchester United striker is facing an uncertain future at AC Milan, as he admitted in an interview with Sky Italy that he could leave this summer.

As quoted by The Sun, the ex-Manchester United star said, “I still have three games, still 10 days, nobody said anything to me and I don’t expect anything else. There are things that we cannot control, but that seems strange to me, but we are doing great things.”

Now, with his future at AC Milan uncertain, Leeds United are eager to pounce, something that owner Andrea Radrizzani has also alluded to. The Whites are returning to the Premier League after winning the Championship title this season and are now set to invest in their squad.

To that end, the newly-promoted club have been linked with a number of players, including Portuguese midfielder Florentino Luis, who is also a target for Manchester United. Signing a striker also seems to be on their agenda, though, and for good reason.

Marcelo Bielsa currently has Patrick Bamford as the only striker at his disposal, with Jay-Roy Grot returning from his loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem as well. Hence, signing a striker rightly seems to be a priority for Leeds, with Ibrahimovic a target. Apart from the former Manchester United striker, free agent Edinson Cavani is also on their radar.

With Ibrahimovic not costing any transfer fee, Leeds could have an economical short-term solution for their attack. Having said that, the big hurdle in front of them would be convincing the ex-PSG and Manchester United about their project. What now remains to be seen is if a sensational deal to sign the Swedish powerhouse sees the light of the day.
